About Me
I currently live in southern Maryland (USA) with my beautiful wife, loving 4 year old daughter, quirky 2 year old daughter, and an energetic Labrador retriever mix rescue. I grew up in the town of North East, Maryland, which is actually located in the very north-eastern part of the state, often hanging out in neighboring Delaware and Pennsylvania.
My childhood pastimes included a lengthily involvement in the Boy Scouts of America, building computers and tinkering with other technology, playing soccer and baseball, learning musical instruments (mainly saxophone and some self taught guitar), fishing and hiking, and quality time with friends and family. My biggest and truest passion has always been all aspects of aviation. From the time my father took me at the age of five to a local private airstrip to see and 'play' inside a Cessna 172, I knew that I wanted to become a pilot and work in the field of aviation. Many airshows, model building sessions, and flight simulator hours later I finally started my flight training on my 16th birthday. I was slightly sidetracked by the tragic events of 9/11 (which shutdown General Aviation in the summer leading up to my departure for college), as well as my studies in college, but I finally did achieve my goal of recieving my Private Pilot's Liscense in the winter of 2007. I have since gone on fly as many aircraft as I can get checked out in and recieved my IFR rating in the summber of 2011.
After attending 4 years of school at Embry-RIddle Aeronautical Universitiy in Daytona Beach, Florida to study Aerospace Engineering, I accepted a job as a propulsion engineer for the US Navy and have been working with them ever since. I married my lovely wife in 2010, whom I met and admired well before heading off to college, and we began our family in the summer of 2014 with our first daughter.
Why "Goncezilla?"
Goncezilla is both a nickname and handle that I commonly use around the internet. It was given to me by a high school track coach who would fit my last name into the lyrics of the 1977 song "Godzilla" by the Blue Oyster Cult while I was participating in events. The nickname has stuck ever since.
